Personal firewall software
This may be the last site on my list (at the moment), but it was the system that got me interested in the whole Internet Security Privacy issue.
When I first started getting in to spending a lot of time on the internet and building web sites I came across a system called Zone Alarm Pro. It is a personal "firewall" system.
It was news to me back then that when you are connected to the internet it is possible for someone else to get access to your PC thorugh that connection and do whatever they want with your PC, including look at all your important files and take copies. Believe it or not they can even make your CD drive open! The software to do this is not hard to get hold of and not "rocket science" to use. There are a lot of people that spend their spare time doing this, and then there are the professionals... and this was three or four years ago.
Since then it has become a major issue and Zone Alarm has become probably the most well known firewall system in the world.
I remember when I first upgraded to the Pro version of Zone Alarm Pro I had it set to tell me when there was an un-authorised attempt to access my PC. After a while I had to switch it off as it was warning me every minute or two!!!
If you haven't got a firewall system yet, GET ONE NOW! A personal firewall system is just as important as an anti virus system.
